????? ?Abstract: For millennia if not millions of years, nature has presented
many examples of amazing collective behaviors by groups of insects,
birds, fishes, etc., which would never be achieved by individual
members of the groups. These emergent behaviors observed in nature
serve as inspirations for the design of autonomous multi-agent systems
in engineering with a broad range of potential applications. In recent
years, there have been emerged a huge amount of work on swarm analysis
and distributed control of cooperative multi-agent systems. The talk
will overview recent research progress in the area and discuss several
ongoing research problems including consensus, formation, beamforming,
cooperative estimation, and sensor scheduling. Central to these
problems is the distributed nature of local interaction.

???????Bio: Zhiyun Lin is a professor of Systems Control at the College of
Electrical Engineering,Zhejiang University, China. He received his
Ph.D. degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from University
of Toronto, Canada, in 2005. From 2005 to 2007, he was a postdoctoral
researcher in the same department at University of Toronto. He then
joined College of Electrical Engineering, Zhejiang University in 2007.
His current research includes multi-agent (multi-robot) systems,
wireless sensor network,switched and hybrid systems, and feedback
control of biped robots. He has authored and co-authored for one
monograph and more than 50 refreeed journal and conferece papers,
with citation more than 800 accoording to Google Scholar. He is currently
serving as several techinical committe of international conferences
and associate editor of Nonlinear Analysis: Hybrid Systems, Journal
of Elsevier.
